Kareem,

I have been seeing this guy for the last year and a half. He is a really good guy. He has a great job, no kids, and a good family. He loves me and bends over backward for me. Not to mention he is FINE! My only problem with him is that he is corny. Like, he is boring as hell and socially awkward. I like hanging out with him on a one-on-one, but he is annoying to have in the presence of others. He is like a bimbo, except he ain’t dumb – if that makes sense. Our sex life is okay. Not good or great. Lately I have been feeling like cheating on him. I miss some of the old flames that I had in my past. They were fun and kept me guessing. There only problem was they were losers or full of shit. I’m in a dilemma. I feel like I’m missing out by staying with him. What should I do? Is his stability worth not being really happy?

Kareem says,

Wow you sound like a man. Normally, WE are the ones that like to screw up relationships and the self-esteem of whom we date.

There are women that would kill to be in your shoes, and I’m sure you know this. Dudes are out here dogging women left and right, blowing out credit ratings, beating sisters down and creating baby mommas – among other things. You have a good man that pampers and respects you but you want to get knocked off by Thug-Love? ~sigh~ The irony of life.

You should have recognized that he was lame from jump street. But you probably got with him on the rebound after “Tyrone” played you out one too many times. Now all you can do is suggest an open relationship. Tell him that you like him but don’t want to be exclusive anymore. Hopefully he will recognize that he is probably too good for you and find someone that will appreciate him for who he is. Corny or not.
