As a person who has had short hair since the 8th grade, I am no stranger to The Cut Life (the short hair lifestyle as well as the actual page which is a great source to find inspiration for any haircut). From bobs to snipping off some hair to make bangs, some form of a haircut needs to be on your to-do list this season. Have fun with one of the hottest hair trends: a good old fashion cut. But not just any chop will do, these trendy cuts will have your spring style in full bloom.

In my opinion, haircuts are always in. After all, who wants to walk around with boring shapeless hair. Trust me ladies it does nothing for you. A good haircut can bring out your best features and even help to draw attention away from some of the features you may not love as much. I wouldn’t want you to think that there isn’t a great haircut that would take your look from drab to fab this season, so let’s get into how you can find the cut for you.

Your current hair length and how bold you are feeling are the two biggest factors in finding the cut for you. If you typically wear your hair straight I have to tell you to get into the Bob Haircut or Lob (long bob) for ladies who want to keep a little more length. This look is so simple yet so chic, sexy, and versatile. You can wear it pin straight or with some voluminous waves like the beautiful Taraji P. Henson does so well. But as always, please go see a professional ladies. I can not tell you how many times people have got in my chair with a jacked up haircut because they “let a friend cut it”. Finding a stylist who is a pro with the shears will assure you slay this spring trend.

If the bob life isn’t for you but you still want to switch up your look, I have got the spring trend to cut your style into shape. Bangs are back on the scene. Zendaya, Ciara, Rihanna and more have been seen sporting this Spring trend and I am going to show you how to get this look. In fact, I am going to show you how to rock this style without having to cut one hair off your pretty little head. (You are welcome!)

Faux is the way to go. A faux bang gives your look added spice when you want it and after you can go back to your regular scheduled styling. It doesn’t matter if you are natural or relaxed, curly or straight you can rock this look any day. Here’s how to make a clip-in faux bang.

First, you need to find some hair on the weft or as you may know it, tracks of hair, that match your color and texture (preferably 100% human hair). You don’t need a lot of hair or anything too long because we are going to cut most of it off.

Once you have your weaving hair you want to take it and measure the front of your head. I measure from eye to eye (using the middle of the eye where your pupil is as the beginning and ending). Cut the tracks up into 5 pieces at this length.

Now you need clips (the same clips found on some wigs and clip-ins) and a weaving net, which you can find at your local beauty supply store. It may be easier to use the weaving net that comes in the form of a sheet instead of the one that comes in the form of a wig cap.

This net is the foundation you are going to sew the tracks onto as well as the clips. Sew 4 of the tracks onto the net about a quarter of an inch apart.

The fifth track is the top piece and it needs to be sewn in a special way so that it covers the other tracks. Sew this track upside down on the back side of the net (do not leave space in between the previous track and this one). You can use your flat iron to bend the hair over so it lays flat and blends with the other hair on the net. Now you can cut any access netting or tracks that may be sticking out. Sew 3 clips on the back of the piece (1 at each top corner and one in the middle towards the bottom).

Clip in and begin cutting the bang around the brow line you can leave it a little longer towards the end to give it a more natural look. This season’s bang is a little more textured with fringe like ends as opposed to the usual straight a cross, blunt cut bangs we’ve seen in the past. To create the fringe effect make a few small cuts with the scissors pointed vertically instead of horizontal. Now flat iron the hair and put a light bend in the bang, comb through it lightly with your fingers and go.

You are now a cut above the rest and ready to give spring your best style.
