Unless you’ve been living under a rock you’ve probably noticed a huge hair trend: waves. Some of our favorite celebs like Kerry Washington, Taraji P. Henson, and even our beloved First Lady Michelle Obama have been seen rocking some chic wavy hairstyles.  These styles can be achieved easily and #TeamBeautiful will show you how!

No Glove No Love- Safety’s First, So be sure to always use the glove to get the hair wrapped around the iron just right without burning your hand . I’m a licensed hairstylist with over 15 years experience and I still use the glove.

Gently Pull Curl down- This allows you to control the looseness of the wave before the hair cools down and you let the wave set in. If you want a looser wave stretch the piece of curled hair more. Tighter wave Do not pull it at all!

The bigger the Barrel…the loser the Wave-It is important to choose the curling iron barrel size based on the desired style.  If you want tight curls use a smaller sized barrel and if you want a loose light wave use a bigger size. I used the medium sized barrel(Amika’s 25mm barrel) to create this loose wavy hairstyle.

Texture Is the Major Key-Full and volumnous hair is a big part of pulling off the wavy hair trend.  So don’t be afraid of using some texture spray.  Amika’s “undone Texture spray” helps to create that effortless perfectly imperfect look.

Set it and Forget it-The best thing you can do for your hairstyle is use a setting spray that will make sure your hairstyle stays on fleek.  Amika’s touchable hairspray is perfect for wavy hairstyles because it gives you the strength needed for your waves to hold up for hours.  As well as the flexibility needed for this carefree style. Once you are done with the curling iron, spray the entire head with hairspray.

Comb through waves and go- If you are going for a looser wavy look use your fingers to gently comb through/pull apart hair. Your fingers are the best comb because the are the most flexible thing you could use in your hair.

Now she’s Fashion Week ready with waves that are sure to be a showstopper!
