Sevyn Streeter is known for her writing credits on Tamar Braxton’s “All The Way Home” and Chris Brown’s “Yeah 3x,” but she has officially breathed new air into R&B with the release of her first EP, “Call Me Crazy, But…”. This girl knows a thing or two about love, heartbreak and pain–all the makings of a solid R&B offering. So it wasn’t a far departure to have Sevyn tap into her emotions and offer us a statement to young men of color who know Trayvon Martin’s tragic story and walk around everyday in fear.
With #YLM, we are asking celebrities to use their elevated platform to remind young men of color that their lives matter. Stars like LaLa Anthony, Mack Wilds, Tia Mowry and more have joined us in the fight and we’re grateful that everyone is passionate about this cause, a full year later.
We are here to be a mouthpiece for our generation. We want young men of color to know that while they may wear the same hoodie Trayvon Martin wore and walk to the store for a snack, just as he did and their lives don’t have to end in the same way. To the young men who have looked at this tragedy in fear, know this-–Your Life Matters. We want to give Sevyn Streeter a special THANK YOU for joining us in this fight! Her message is extremely heartfelt and potent.
Share your stories of inspiration to uplift this generation. We need it right now!
