Oprah Winfrey has only publicly supported two politicians — first President Barack Obama, and now Newark mayor and U.S. Senate candidate Cory Booker.
On Thursday, the media mogul joined the New Jersey Senate hopeful for a fundraiser at Liberty House restaurant in Jersey City. Tickets for the high-profile event cost donors between $1,000 and $2,600.

Sources say actor Denzel Washington also in attendance and the Booker raised about $250,000 that evening.
Although the star-studded event was a success, the candidate also received criticism for not attending the NAACP forum, which took place the same night.
Meanwhile, in Newark where Booker is mayor, three candidates competing against Booker answered written questions from the audience about Social Security, Medicare and civil rights issues. Newark NAACP President Deborah Gregory said it would have been great if Booker had brought Winfrey to the forum.
Booker’s Democratic opponents criticized him for raising money instead of answering questions. A Booker spokesman said the fundraiser was scheduled before the campaign was invited to the forum.
The campaign of Congressman Frank Pallone, who is competing against Booker, released a statement about the absence.
“Mayor Booker has chosen time and again to skip debates and forums in favor of photo-op runs, ribbon cuttings and fundraisers with celebrities. The mayor’s decision this evening to skip the NAACP candidate’s forum in his own city in order to rake in cash with Oprah Winfrey is simply more of the same,” the campaign said in a statement. “Public service demands that individuals be present and accountable and the empty chair on stage tonight should give voters pause as they consider their choice for Senate.”
What do you think about Cory’s choice to skip the NAACP event for an Oprah fundraiser? Hit or miss?

10 Potential Girlfriends To Make Cory Booker’s Mom Happy [PHOTOS]
1. Kristin Kreuk
Booker admitted to being a big fan of "Smallville" & was delighted to find out that the show's star, Kristin Kreuk landed another role in CW's "Beauty & The Beast."
2. Kerry Washington
She plays a politician's lover on TV--ahem "Scandal," so Kerry Washington knows just how to handle a man of political power.
3. Leona Lewis
Has anyone ever her speak? I think Leona only sings, but Booker needs a woman that can just listen to him talk. I think that's exactly what he needs.
4. Sanaa Lathan
Sanaa Lathan is Hollywood A-list, but you never catch her in the middle of a scandal or bad press. She knows how to be in the spotlight, but stay hidden. Those are some great girlfriend qualities for Booker.
5. Mindy Kalling
Obviously Booker's a funny man. If you don't know, follow him on Twitter! Mindy Kalling is funnier and cuter than Booker, but she'd match his wits and would laugh it off if his schedule didn't make enough time for her.
6. Taraji P. Henson
Taraji's youthful spirit, killer good looks and equally as busy life would mesh well with Booker's. Taraji is always on the scene, but there's never any bad press. Just what Booker needs.
7. LisaRaye McCoy
Why not end up with a woman that knows how to be the wife of a public figure? *Kanye shrug*
8. Annika Marks
This up & coming actress is just...hot. For the sake of being shallow, Cory Booker could be one happy man, if it's only to look at Annika. But she's still new, so she's more than likely still a humble sweetheart. What's better than that?
9. Cassandra Freeman
Cassandra's first big break was playing Denzel Washington's wife in "Inside Man." So she knows a thing or two about being the better half of a powerful man. Perfect training for the role of Booker's boo.
10. Olivia Wilde
Sure she's a little young, but her vast experiences in life have given Wilde wisdom beyond her years. Her beauty is breathtaking and could potentially make Booker stop in his tracks and smell the roses or just appreciate the fact that he has one on his arm.
