4. President Fitz Reveals His Affair on National TV

In an unexpected twist of events, President Grant decides to beat Jeanie to the punch and go on the air with his own announcement about his affair. A flustered Cyrus, who is too through with all this mess, asked him what he was about to do and then it was Fitz’s turn to give an ultimatum. If Cyrus could get Jake out of the hole then he would go along with the Jeanie affair hoax, but if Jake died, Fitz was going to bring the White House down and tell America that it was really Liv that he had the affair with.  Then he delivered one of the most hilarious lines of the night: “How Presidential are my balls now, Cy?”

In the end, we see that Fitz gets his way and keeps Jake alive, for Liv. Jeanie gets thrown under the bus, and Mellie gets shut down once again! Now that Fitz has admitted to the affair, looks like Jeanie’s $2 million deal is null and void. Abby assured Jeanie that she would make a living off of book deals, speaking engagements and appearances but unfortunately her political career was over.

And to think, it was all a lie! Messy! But that’s what happens when you make a “deal with the devil” (another classic line?  When Cyrus tells Mellie in the middle of the episode “You’re evil” and she replies, “You’re welcome.”). Jeanie would’ve done better to just let Liv handle it.
