3. Jake Ballard Is Alive

Now that Jeanie was a client of “Olivia Pope & Associates”, Olivia and her team were doing everything in their power to help prove her innocence. The last step was to go on national television and talk about Jeanie’s non existent relationship with the president and try to get the rest of America on her side.

Jeanie was all for proving her innocence to the American people until Mellie got a hold of her and promised her $2 million dollars — tax free and in an offshore account, at that — to lie and say she did have the affair with Fitz, even though she didn’t.  Two million sounded like gold to Jeanie and she accepted the deal and was all set to go on television, lie and run off with her money like nothing ever happened.

Liv had other plans.

She didn’t believe that Jeanie should lie about something that she didn’t do just for money. She believed in proving her innocence and wanted Jeanie to be set free from all the lies. Guilty conscious much?

Liv’s father, however, was on a totally different page from everyone. He told Olivia that if Jeanie confessed to the affair, Jake Ballard would live and if she denied it, he would die. Liv decided that she would try her luck and ask Fitz if he would pull some strings to free Jake, after all he is the President of the United States and calls all the shots.

How Liv got her boo to help her side boo is beyond me, but some how it worked and Fitz was able to find out that Jake was still alive but still detained. Liv then called the only person who she knew could actually free Jake, her father. She told her dad that if he freed Jake she would begin meeting him for Sunday dinners again. To her surprise, that was all Papa Pope wanted! At the end of the episode, Jake Ballard showed up at Liv’s front door, beaten and battered but alive nonetheless!

At least Papa Pope is a man of his word, no matter how evil he may actually be! Scandalous!
