Hill Harper’s interview with Abiola Abrams about The Conversation:

Do black men & women have a communication block?

Hey Cupcakes!

Author, actor and activist, Hill Harper of the TV series CSI wants African American men and women to have a conversation. In his book, The Conversation, Harper says that there’s a rift in black communities and a dearth of black love due to lack of conversation. Check it out – he takes long-term terminally single men like himself to task!

Here’s a bit of trivia, Hill Harper and I both hosted the BET film competition series The Best Shorts before my gig as “Miss Picky” on VH1 show Tough Love.

This is an engaging book about a very critical topic in the African-American community. We have built up walls (for many reasons) between men and women which makes communication difficult. Kudos to Mr. Harper for understanding the importance of this issue and tackling it head-on. The discussions inside the book are insightful and eye-opening. And it hits on some taboos that need to be blown up seriously. Good for a few chuckles as well.

for me personally he have a good vision but I feel his vision is unrealistic to some extent for me I wont buy the book because of the way he spoke I agree with somethings but by his tone of voice I can tell he was trying to make black men responsible I can read nonverbal language an he was trying to favorite the black women Lmao. For me I read the art of macking the mackwithin an the art of seduction an all 3 of them books open my eyes because most women don’t know what a real player is when they hear the word player they think negative stuff but a real player is honest an up front but since he hill is a square I can understand were he’s coming from but the art of macking taught me to read peoples body language an the art of seduction taught me to read people fronts that’s why i=I have a lack of trust for people no matter if they man or women because being a pragmatist is better then trying to be positive with no objectivity behind it.an also communication is more then just verbal words its nonverbal I don’t need his book because on the real I’m above race an also I can communicate with any women without hating an also I can communicate with people in general.

@doing_me74 AMEN. f**k u Hill. I’ma fan of yours but fuk u bruh. what youu need to write a book about how black women needs to get their s**t together. This dude is basically saying it’s men that are not communicating when it’s really the woman in most cases. Men try hard to communicate with their women but they not trying to hear it. its their way or hell on earth for that black man. real talk black men dont really have the he say attitude when we take women out but the woman does. now he might have it after that first date cause he sees her for her real self. funny thing is everyone knows this but you get niggas like Hill trying to equally spread the blame when the fact of the matter is the reason why most marriages/relationships fail is cause the black woman wanna nas a brother to death. what ends up happening is that that man who was originally ‘good’ ends up snapping and hitting her or mentally abusing her, he becomes that ‘bad’ black man that she been saying he is. I seen it happen. its either that or the man has enough sense to leave like I did. just like DOING_ME74 said, you got to be able to read these women, got to be able to know why they doing what they doing or not doing what they are not doing. non verbal says just as much a verbal as does physical and non physical. we got to know why woman act they way they do and know how to communicate to heal them. but wild thing is that women dont think anything wrong with them, they think they are right all the time and feel they will be damned if they take instruction from anyone other than their boss or preacher.
in fact brothers like Hill are the reason we got so much trouble with our women, they wanna sugar coat what the real issue is, they wanna kiss woman’s ass. this ass kissing is a great way to sell books, woman love these kids of books. they love fairy tale romance novels, they love the ‘go on girl’ books. once we stop sugar coating what is really wrong we’ll get results and start heading down the road to get black relationships to what they should be about. Hill i’m disappointed in u bruh

I enjoy Abiola’s interviews. She has a great personality. I purchased the book last year and read it. I enjoyed the book, and I loaned it out to one of my coworkers. I enjoyed Hill’s personal journey dating the math teacher, I believe her name was Nicole. I especially enjoyed the conversations that he had with all of the couples at various stages of love- long term marriages, dating, etc. There is a beautiful true story in the book of a couple’s journey in which the man was in jail and the woman had to wait until he was able to get his life back on track. I won’t give out any more info, I’ll let you read the book for the wonderful details. :)
