Boy Bye: Cop ‘Accidentally’ Shot Mental Health Therapist Charles Kinsey Trying To Protect Him, Police Union Leader Says

In a news conference, a leader for the Miami-Dade Police Union said that a local police officer “accidentally” shot mental health therapist Charles Kinsey instead of the autistic patient Kinsey for caring for.

But why would you aim to shoot an autistic person sitting by a man with his arms clearly up, without practicing any non-escalation techniques that they teach you in the academy? Because according to John Rivera, the head of the Miami-Dade Police Benevolent Association, believed that Kinsey was “in danger” and wanted to protect him, the Huffington Post reported.

Sigh.

“This isn’t a mistake in the sense that the officer shot the wrong guy, or that Mr. Kinsey was the bad guy,” Rivera said in a news conference. “It was a mistake in the sense that he thought Mr. Kinsey was a victim and was about to lose his life. And so he attempted to stop the white male and accidentally shot Mr. Kinsey.”

Ironically, this explanation is vastly different than what the shooting officer gave when questioned on Thursday. When asked why he shot Kinsey, his response was “I don’t know.”

Riveria also told the crowd that they are currently not looking to fire the police officer. Of course they’re not. Thankfully, Kinsey’s wounds were non life-threatening.

If you weren’t feeling Donald Trump’s speech at the Republican National Convention, don’t worry, you weren’t alone.

The Black Lives Matter Movement wasn’t here for it either calling it the “most negative acceptance speech in recorded history” and calling Trump a “disgrace,” and a “terrorist,” The Root noted

“The terrifying vision that Donald J. Trump is putting forward casts him alongside some of the worst fascists in history,” Black Lives Matter co-founder Alicia Garza said in a statement.

She added, “Black people and our allies have unequivocally demanded a new path forward for safety in our communities, one that involves real accountability for police. While our movement envisions a bright future where everyone is treated with dignity and respect, Trump is proposing a new, dark age where police have carte blanche authority to terrorize our communities.”

BLM co-founder Patrisse Khan-Cullors added that “The terrorist on our televisions tonight was Donald Trump. He pledged to fight for Americans while threatening the vast majority of this country with imprisonment, deportation and a culture of abject fear.”

“His doublespeak belies his true nature: a charlatan who will embolden racists and destroy communities of color. He is a disgrace. White people of conscience must forcefully reject this hatred immediately,” she concluded.

You better tell it, ladies!
