Last week, we caught up on some of our favorite talent show competition winners. This week, we’re focusing on one particular R&B songstress whose hits kept us dancing in the early 2000s: Sunshine Anderson.

Then

Originally from North Carolina, Sunshine first came on the scene back in 2001 with her lead single, Heard It All Before, and it was one of the most epic break-up anthems of the 2000s (and still is)!

A second single, Lunch Or Dinner, followed shortly after. Sunshine’s debut album, Your Woman, peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard U.S. R&B charts and was certified gold that same year.

When her first album was recorded, Sunshine was being managed by none other than Macy Gray. Some say that Macy’s instability is just one factor that led to the long hiatus between Sunshine’s album releases.

Six years after her debut album, Sunshine parted ways with her original management team and followed up with her second album, Sunshine at Midnight. She then signed to Mathew Knowles’ record label, Music World Entertainment. The singer went on to release three singles from that album.

Sunshine’s third studio album, The Sun Shines Again, was released in 2010 and peaked at No. 50 on the Billboard charts.

Now

Now, at 42, Sunshine continues to make multiple musical appearances all over the country, including the St. Petersburg Crab & Music Festival this Saturday in St. Petersburg, Florida. She also hosts a radio show every Saturday from 2 to 6 p.m. on Old School 105.3 in North Carolina. Sunshine has one daughter, Skyy. She remains very active on social media, including Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
