ESSENCE.COM: What’s the one thing you can’t live without?
This may be very blunt, but I can’t live without hair extensions.It’s the truth! I don’t want to wear my [real] hair all the time because I want to protect it. What would the world be like without some extra hair? It would be crazy! I need my extensions; I love the drama. I love to be able to have fun with my hair and protect it at the same time.
Great answer. So, if there was one thing you could invent, hair-wise, what would it be?
[bursts out laughing] I’d invent hairpieces that would give you the exact style you want, any time. And it would never mess up, not even when you’re sleeping!

i agree that some women wear extensions to protect their hair, or because they hate to style their own hair. my niece has shoulder-length hair, but she always wears a weave. her natural hair is thick, and she used to spend hours under the dryer. people seem to forget that white chics rock extensions. so, it’s all up to the individual.

Most black women caint live without it! But I think it’s bull when she claims to only wear extensions in order to protect her REAL hair! If most black chicks had REAL hair that looked and grew decent than we wouldn’t hide it under itchy ass weave! So it’s not a spell, our hair just doesnt grow as quickly and as nice as everyone elses! We cant help that no matter how many growth products that they advertise claiming to work for blacks!

I’m right there with ya Miss_Ab05 people are ignorant, if someone wants to wear extensions they damn well can! Lots of black females can grow long hair mine grows past my shoulders, I don’t wear it OUT very often because it’s annoying to deal with, it’s curly, it’s straight, nappy and just crazy, and I’m not paying anybody a stupid amount of money just to mess it up. Leave people the hell alone, if that’s not what you want don’t wear it. And by the way “African American” brothas and sistas, if you know so much about OUR culture you would know that, different tribes were wearing extensions before white people came and brought them to america.

Damn…not all people who wear weaves r insecure! Why can’t people just actually like them, and wanna switch up their looks, and not have it be abt them “looking white”, or wanting to be like a white girl. As females in general, most of them love long hair, A LOT of my friends who are not black wear extensions as well…and so what if ur insecure abt ur hair, its no different than wearing makeup..people are gonna talk s**t..damned if u do, damned if u don’t…WHY are ppl comin dwn on folks who LIKE looking decent and dressing up…I dnt believe ever black chic that wears extensions is insecure…thats like saying all black people have short hair, which aint true!
