Disney’s Black Princess Isn’t Really Black?

There’s a new trailer for The Princess and the Frog and it’s got us scratching our heads. It turns out that when the princess kisses the frog that he doesn’t turn into the white prince yet. She turns into a frog and then remains a frog for most of the film. What happened to our Black princess?? Not only is the prince of a lighter skin tone but we also see in this trailer that the voodoo witch doctor is a black man.

whatevta to the the muthaf**kas that don’t care… this is an issue…if most of disney’s movies are predominately relating to white people, when it’s meant to be seen by and learned from all people, then it is a problem. It won’t hurt to make a predominately black cast in disney films for once, and they couldn’t even do it. IT IS a disappointment and is very sad. The closest they ever got was ‘the lion king ‘and they were all animals…good enough to be animals but nothing else is what i am seeing.

I think the movie is sweet!…Sometimes Black people try to make a mountain out of a mole hill in order to get people all riled up for nothing. Kinda pisses me off. Why can’t we just rejoice in the fact that OUR kids finally have a Disney classic to enjoy and see themselves in!

I’m so excited to see this movie. I’ve been waiting a lifetime for this!! I love the fact that they changed the story and it doesn’t go the way we expected it to.That’s so HOT!!! OMG!!
Thank you Disney for making this movie. And for those who aren’t happy cause she’s not human throughout the movie or that the prince is dark skinned. Dang it…we all aren’t dark skinned. And from the history books I’ve read, the slave ships stopped a lot of different places before they got to the US. Let’s sit back and enjoy. If we go and support this movie, maybe just maybe they make MORE movies with black animated characters in it. I didn’t here anybody complain that there were NO black characters in Shrek or because Donkey had a black voice that was okay?

Anything they would had done, SOMEONE would have a problem with it..If the princess was dark skinned then there would had been some type of prob then too.. Disney tries to reach to most races and ethnicities ..This is for the children and they dont care about all the petty stuff most adults make big deals about…I agree Who Cares

I aint watched a Disney movie since the Lion King came out in 94. Since I got older and damn near all they stuff the do these days are rehashes of old stuff anyways. Besides Lion King was the blackest Disney movie ever.

I agree with APRILKG428 one hundred percent on this one. And on another note.. For the simple fact that this is HelloBeautiful and not NewsOne.. I would’ve swore that Nazneen Patel wrote this damn article. U know…. the west Indian chick ( That’s what race everyone else says she is) that wrote the articles about the RACIST squarebutts commercial, the RACIST old navy commercial, and the “RACIST” furniture. this is probably why it took disney so long to make a movie about a “black” princess, because they knew that every little detail was going to be knitpicked to try to find some way to call it racists!! My goodness its a movie for children and family and it looks like it shows different cultures in there including latin judging from the prince and I think that’s great.

Anyone really concerned with what race the characters are should create their own “black princess.” I don’t see any you whinebabies ranting and raving about all of the other movies that are put out, Disney is making a way for families to spend time together, because Lord knows that most blacks don’t do that. You all are probaably mad that they used a frog instead of another animal. Come on black people get it together. Worry about something with merit.

WHO CARES?!?!?! Did you not see Cinderella where Brandy played the part of cinderella, the prince was asian, his mom was black (Whoopi Goldberg), his dad was white….the cast was full of people from different races, backgrounds and so on! The point is….it’s a movie for crying out loud! Who cares! There are more crucial issues to be worried about! Like how about the fact that there are 45 million Americans with no health insurance because they can’t afford it! Or the fact that more and more companies are shutting their doors daily because they cannot afford to stay open! One little stupid movie is not that damn important! GET THE HELL OVER IT AND MOVE ON!

I think that the plot like of this Disney movie is not like the other so called “Disney princess” but its bout as good as its going to get, cause Disney i can definelty say is slacking if they really think this movie is good enough for the general public. We all know Disney’s racist, but it still looks like a good family movie. The villain’s black, but so are most of the, I’m assuming, key characters. It doesn’t have to be strictly black (good) vs. white (evil)
