First of all Valentines Day is not a holiday! Valentines Day is not a holiday because I still have to go to work. It becomes a holiday when I don’t have to go work. Christmas, Easter, memorial day, veterans day, labor day, July 4th, and other days were I do not have to go to work are holidays. Your birthday, your kids birthday, and anyone who is important if you have time are holidays. Go to work not a holiday, don’t go to work holiday.

as for him yea being a j. witness is cheapier, bc when you become a star of his caliber (lol) gifts become expensive. You wont give me any flowers and candy and expect gratitude. he better have some Tiffanies…. some fendi, a new bentley. something. not a some dead flowers and half eaten chocolates.

Plus if V-day is the day to show ur love to someone, technically you don’t have to show that person love another day of the year.

Not to mention flowers, chocolates and stuffed animals cost more on v-day than any other day of the year.

Well good for him! Turning to Christ is the best way to go in this day and age.

And who cares about birthdays? It’s just a day that you were born. What does it mean to celebrate the day of birth if ur life is meaningless? What have you done during the years you’ve been alive? Are you making a difference to someone or to yourself while you’ve been alive? See this is the things that Jehovah Witnesses teach in the reason why they don’t celebrate the day you were born. It’s the death that they celebrate instead. Your life and the legacy you leave is more important than the day you’re born. You live and learn and guide and teach. Omarion knows what becoming a witness is about and I’m sure giving up the holidays and celebrating his birthday is something that he’s obviously willing to sacrafice. I think its a good choice and smart spiritual investment.

valentines day comes from a priest named st valentine, who created notes for his army to send to their wives while out fighting battle in ancient Rome’s times, not cupids or other Gods. me and my fiancee we celebrate love 365 days of the year and do something inexpensive on Valentines. It is just a day that we take out to show each other APPRECIATION as sometimes couples can forget to show their partner this in our busy lives. People (to me) go to far and philosophic about the meaning of holidays. To me, celebrating holidays just creates unity in our communities. i am faith based and it feels good to celebrate. Now what is wrong with celebrating love?????

St Valentine started the card give tradition but the idea goes way beyond him. Me personally I would associate myself with Rome because everything about Rome is pagen.

Just do and be you…Many people celebrate holidays just to celebrate holidays. Its like going to a party with a theme to it. The theme is created simply because its different than the everyday norm and it will be fun. Yea people can celebrate something everyday if they chose but after awhile it gets boring and played out. Most of these ‘Holiday’s” are celebrated to make money! Look at Christmas? It’s the biggest rip off day be happy buy everybody stuff you can’t afford in history. Yet, people fall for the hype and go in debt year after year. We got clothes and a good meal for Christmas. When we got over 12, if we got any toys, we saved our $ all year to buy them. Knowledge is Power!

I once knew a friend who was a Jehovah Witness who was desperate to get me to convert to it. I do have to tell people like that God gave us two precious things not to take for granted. First one is life and second is free will. We are supposed to remember to watch out for wolves in sheep clothing who preach about messiah’s message but used it for their own wickedness gain. Once a person say they are converting to any religion they have to give up everything. Wealthy/rich people have to give up their wealth or spread it around. We have not seen or heard that happen yet.

I respect Omarion for his comment about his conscience and not get involve in Pagan holidays. It is all commercialism these days making people spend more money when they should have been saving it. If a person put money in an investment account for every pagans holidays/ Valentine’s Day over 10 years they would be able buy an apartment, house, pay off college’s bills (so many people in debt now with no savings), or start a business without borrowing loans so as not to have pay more interests. These days the working and middle class people are living pay check to pay check. I do not spend money on none of the holidays and tell friends don’t stress themselves out worrying what to get me. In my family we do not stress ourselves like those who have to worried about their credit card bills after the holidays over. JMO that there’s no such of thing as a complete happy family reunion during and after the holidays because of the financial stresses it created drama. People expected material things too much as if their lives depend on it.

I’m glad to see that there’s so many out here that know and understand the history behind these Holidays. But..
