Another day, another celebrity red carpet, another celebrity event, another see-through dress. Is this how we’re really going down in fashion history for the middle of this decade?

I miss the days when nudity and the illusion of what could be was more alluring than what is.

The idea of the see through dress is nothing new. In the early 90’s, supermodels Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss wore them out to events. Below, they are pictured at an Elite Model Agency party for the Look of the Year Contest at the Hilton Hotel, London, in September 1993.

Toni Braxton wore this daring, slit so high it’s no longer a slit dress to the 2001 Grammy’s in a Richard Tyler gown. Toni commented to People Magazine,

“I’ve always gone a little risque with all my other awards [show outfits]. I decided that before I got married and had babies, I’d wear this.”

Now, 15 years later, we are seeing a resurgence of see-through dresses and p*ssy-peeking gowns. What was once a daring and on occasion, ‘wow factor’ type of ensemble, is now ALL that we’re seeing.

What happened to the allure and art of dressing? Naked is easy and boring after we’ve seen your tits and ass 50 times. Newsflash, it’s no longer new. It’s like only doing it doggy-style every single time you have sex, and thinking you’re on to something.

Of course there are always exceptions to the naked dress rule. Gowns printed with embellishments like this flowy Valentino number from Fall 2016 collection is timeless, classy, and alluring.

LaQuan Smith‘s magically mixed mesh dress screams sex pot is the perfect ensemble for that, ‘I need to stand out,’ event.

However, see through style should NOT be ALL you own for your galas and events.

Rihanna is the perfect example of a celeb that weaves in and out of the see-through trend to keep it fresh. Nothing was more naked than her 2014 Swarovski dress she wore to the CFDA Vogue Fashion Awards.

I could probably point out her tits in my sleep. However, her style is all about variety. Wearing vintage Mugler to the iHeart Radio Awards or completely covered up to accept being the first woman to win Shoe Of The Year Award, she keeps it versatile.

I’m not saying the style isn’t beautiful, I’m saying celebs and models are becoming lazy.

Wear it, but it doesn’t have to be your go to or only option.
