Oh Lord! Iyanla Vanzant To ‘Fix’ North Carolina Lotto Winner’s Life

Remember Marie Holmes? She’s the North Carolina mother of four who worked at Walmart and won $188 million in a 2015 state lottery. She’s also been seriously dragged by social media for constantly bailing out her boyfriend, Lamar “Hot Sauce” McDow, with her winnings, nearly $10 million to be exact. Oh, now her bae is serving 10 years in prison on drug charges.

Messy? Most definitely.

Well, apparently Holmes realized she needed help and got her life “fixed” by inspirational speaker Iyanla Vanzant. The mother’s experiences will be televised on Vanzant’s OWN reality show next month as a four-part, multi-week series where Holmes and seven other women move into the “House of Healing.” Looking at the trailer, the participants will emotionally address a range of issues, including how to dispel the “angry Black woman” myth.

The season five premiere of Iyanla: Fix My Life will drop on September 10.

Beauties, will you be watching?

Praise! High School Alumni Create Scholarship To Honor Philando Castile

A high school in St. Paul, Minnesota, announced it will create a scholarship in honor of their late alumnus Philando Castile. According to the Huffington Post, the St. Paul Central High School foundation will offer the scholarship to a student from an underprivileged background who wants to pursue a career in education or child development.

While Castile graduated in 2001, graduates from the classes of 2001, 2002, 2003, and 2005 recently came together to raise money for the slain 32-year-old.

“We all had a lot of rage and anger and grief, and we decided to channel that,” Karla Basta, an organizer from the class of 2001, told the Star Tribune. “Central is a really loyal school, and this was all done by Central alumni.”

The free event, which included food, live performances, kids activities, raffle prizes, and art, raised a whopping $10,000 before the event and up to $25,000 as it ended, the newspaper noted.

As HelloBeautiful previously reported, on July 6, Castile was shot and killed by police in a St. Paul suburb after being pulled over for reportedly matching a suspect’s description of having a “wide set nose.” As he told police he had a gun and was reaching for his permit, his girlfriend, Lavish Reynoldswho taped the encounter, said police shot Castile to death.

Their 4-year-old daughter was riding in the backseat.

6.2 Magnitude Earthquake In Italy Kills At Least 159

At least 159 people were killed in a magnitude-6.2 earthquake that struck central Italy early Wednesday morning. The towns Amatrice and Accumoli were hit the hardest, BBC reported.

It’s believed many people are still stuck under the rubble, and Health Minister Beatrice Lorenzin told the press there were many children among the dead. Since the earthquake, there have been dozens of aftershocks, which have affected the country as far as 100 miles from the epicenter, Yahoo News noted.

President Obama sent his condolences to the lives lost due to this horrific natural disaster:

Here are some images of the destruction:
