Maria Borges is currently my favorite “it” model. The Angolan beauties’ natural style is becoming a coveted look in the fashion industry and sparking a style revolution. Over the past several months, I’ve seen many non-ethnic magazines showing love to the ‘fro, having their cover girls rock it. From Viola Davis on the cover of Elle Magazine to Jourdan Dunn for Vogue Brasil – afro power is HERE!

Maria’s natural hair empowerment, whether she knows it or not, is empowering women everywhere to stray from societal norms. The biggest statement was when she rocked the Victoria Secret show with her natural hair. Everyone from Tyra Banks to Lais Ribeiro have worn weaves on the runway…but not our Angolan queen, Maria!

Her latest shoot for W Magazine is bananas. Shot by Inez Van Lamsweerde and Vindooh Matadin and styled by the uber talented Edward Enninful, the supermodel dons oversized tortoiseshell sunglasses and a Brandon Maxwell blazer with nothing underneath. The simplicity of the look illustrates the stunning beauty that is Maria Borges.

#TeamBeautiful loves this look illustrating that less is more. Tell us beauties, what do you think of Maria Borges’ revitalizing the afro amongst the ever-white fashion industry?
