According to reports, the actor turned himself in to authorities in Claremont, Calif. today. He was booked for felony aggravated battery and released on $50,000 bail.

The altercation took place at a restaurant called Gabe’s Bar and Grill on March 15. Short allegedly suckerpunched a guy at an engagement party after a verbal disagreement. The fight was so bad the victim “was rendered unconscious for several minutes” and left with a broken nose.

According to the owner, “[The fight] happened in the parking lot, but none of the employees saw what happened.”

The TV star may be easy on the eyes, but looks can be deceiving because The Los Angeles Times reports this was not his first time behind bars — or his first battery charge!

“Short’s off-screen actions have repeatedly landed him in jail,” the paper detailed. “He was arrested for drunk driving in July 2008, Los Angeles police records show. He was arrested again July 19, 2010, for battery with great bodily injury and later for failing to appear on a court case….Short was convicted of disturbing the peace and placed on three years’ probation, court records show.”

And…

“He was arrested and charged last month for battery on a former spouse at his former Woodland Hills home,” the LA Times added. “He plead not guilty.”

We’ll keep you posted as more details arise. Short’s reps have yet to release a statement.
