The Kenyan mall attacks that turned into a deadly, full-on hostage situation has finally come to an end. The Huffington Post is reporting that Kenyan president Uhuru Kenyatta has announced the end of the siege on Westgate mall in Nairobi. Eleven gunmen are now in custody. “These cowards will meet justice,” Kenyatta declared.
Even though reports are saying the terror is over, there’s still damage being done. The attack caused three floors of the luxury mall to collapse, raising the body toll to 72. It’s being reported that more people may be trapped inside.
According to the BBC, President Kenyatta is saying the “losses are immense.” Kenya’s Foreign Minister, Amina Mohamed claimed that some Americans were involved in the attack, however, President Kenyatta has no been able to verify this claim. At least the attack is over.
Three days of national mourning will begin in Kenya today.
