Double Standard? Kourtney Kardashian Pregnant Again, Not Married
Double standards regarding woman are alive and well. So much so, we see it in every aspect of our lives including the media. When actress, Nia Long announced her second pregnancy, several blogs criticized her for having another child out of wedlock. On the other hand, Kardashian sister-Kourtney announced that she is also expecting her second child and received a glorious response.
Britni Danielle of Clutch Magazine noted that while most of us went “ga ga” over the news from Kourtney, we had the adverse response with Nia Long.
“While the media goes ga-ga over yet another bit of Kardashian news, I’m left to marvel at how white celebs (and by extension, white women) are critiqued about their out of wedlock pregnancies in comparison to black celebs.
When Nia Long announced she was expecting baby number two with her boyfriend NBA baller Ime Udoka, comments on black blogs went crazy. Some questioned why she was being “glorified” for having (another) kid out of wedlock, despite her ability to take care of her children and their fathers being present.”
