“Waiting For Superman” Explores The Failure Of US Education System
A new film questioning America’s public education system is being released in theaters today. For those of you who are parents, “Waiting for Superman” is about the failures of America’s public education system and why it should matter to the average American.
The film takes a long, hard look at the state of America’s public school system, following five students in various U.S. cities who are struggling to get a quality education.
Oprah recently donated $1 million awards to six organizations, including Aspire, which operates about 30 publicly funded, privately run charter schools in California, and Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg gave $100 million to Newark’s troubled school system.
James Willcox, CEO of the Oakland-based Aspire Public Schools, recently appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show along with Bill Gates and Director Davis Guggenheim to promote the movie directed by Guggenheim, who directed “An Inconvenient Truth.”
