Whoopi Goldberg Says It’s OK For A Man To Hit A Woman (If She Hits Him First)

Whoopi Goldberg recently came under fire for her comments on violence against women, prompted by Solange’s attack on Jay Z. We’re pretty sure everyone and their momma has seen the infamous elevator fight video where Solange tried to strike Jay Z on numerous occasions. Hov kept it together and didn’t hit her back, but it led to a discussion on whether or not he should have. We know what you’re thinking, a man should never hit a woman, but Whoopi feels otherwise.

“If someone hits you, you have the right to hit them back,” she said in the video posted on her Facebook page. We understand what she’s saying. We get it. But here’s the thing, a man is so much more powerful than a woman therefore their hits are not equivalent. A woman can very well slap a man, but would it inflict as much damage as it would if a man slaps a woman? More than likely, no.
