Brandy, Queen Latifah, MC-Lyte & Yo-Yo Reunite
Who knew we’d still be talking about Brandy’s “I Wanna be Down” remix 20-years after it was released? Brandy, MC-Lyte and Yo-Yo visited Queen Latifah on her daytime talk show and reminisced over their recording process for one of Brandy’s biggest hits in the 90s.
“I was so excited to be on this record,” The Queen admitted. “I remember going in the studio and Lyte was on the record and I was like, āThis is not what Iā¦ā I thought this was a Brandy record! But then I said, āWhoa!ā Lyte made me re-write my part. I had some lovey dovey, emotional cutes. I was like, āNo, no no. I better step my game up or MC Lyteās gonna butcher me on this track!”
Brandy, who debuted her new kinky afro, laughed as she revealed that she had no clue what any of the ladies were rapping about on their verses, but was so happy they all were able to collaborate.
