1. Patriotic Party
Liven up the house with vivid red, white and blues and embrace what the holiday is really about! Think watermelon margaritas, pound cake with whip cream and blueberries and loop in some military-themed movies on your big screen. Think “Top Gun,” “Tropic Thunder” and “Inglorious Bastards.”
2. Throwback BBQ
My personal fave! Make a 90’s and early 2000’s playlist of those memorable R&B and Hip-Hop hits and fill the house with old-school candy and knick knacks. Remember Lucas candies, sour straws, taffy, malt balls. Yep, ALL of those! And if you want to take it to the next level, pick up a few games and toys like Hula Hoops, Ouija Boards, even Monopoly and have game competitions!
3. Forrest Gump
Okay it might sound silly at first, but when you think about it, Forrest Gump fits in perfectly with Memorial Day themes (he was in the army after all)! Bring out the seafood for this one! Shrimp…. peanut butter shrimp, coconut shrimp, shrimp scampi, shrimp Orleans. Hehe. You get it! And of course…a few boxes of chocolate for ambiance.
