Raven-Symone And Whoopi Goldberg Chat "Sister Act" On Broadway

Our favorite triple threat, Raven-Symone is set to star in the Broadway adaptation of Sister Act. Raven-Symone will assume the lead role of Deloris Van Cartier (which Whoopi Goldberg originated in the 1992 film version). Deloris Van Cartier is a lounge singer, turned nun (Sister Mary Clarence) that brightens up the lives of a few dull nuns and wayward students.

The former Cosby kid will make her debut on March 27th, replacing Tony-nominated actress, Patina Miller. Forever the perfectionist, Raven-Symone wants to make sure she does the character justice, so she’s been up to her neck in rehearsals all day, everyday.

Here’s three reasons we’re dying to see Raven-Symone is “Sister Act.”

1.Raven-Symone has amazing comedic timing and in this role, we’ll get to see her comedy soar. Deloris Van Cartier is the comedic relief of the entire production and her character has some serious attitude. Raven’s going to pull this off perfectly.

2. As a child star that’s grown up in front of our eyes, Raven-Symone is perpetually a child actress in most of our heads. Even when she starred in her own sitcom, That’s So Raven, she was still considered a bit of a teeny-bopper. It will be nice to see how she’s matured in her craft while playing a more mature character.

3. Raven-Symone’s always been a larger-than-life personality, even when she played the adorable Olivia on The Cosby Show. The stage is the place for larger-than-life so I have a feeling that the mogul/actress will fit in seamlessly on Broadway.
