Senate Judiciary Committee Votes To Confirm Loretta Lynch

The Senate Judiciary Committee has moved Loretta Lynch a little closer to becoming the next U.S. Attorney General.
The panel voted to confirm the nominee on Thursday, meaning that she has effectively cleared the first step in the process.
The Huffington Post reports that Democrats on the panel all voted for her confirmation, but Republicans weren’t so uniform in their decision. Some members voted in her favor while others continued to tow the party line of opposition.
Supposedly, members of the GOP are concerned about the support that Loretta has shown towards President Obama and his executive actions. Specifically, they take issue with the fact that she didn’t question the legality of his recent moves to shield thousands of undocumented immigrants from deportation.
“We shouldn’t confirm anyone who supports the legality of the president’s executive amnesty,” Sen. Jeff Sessions of Alabama said.
Now that the Senate Judiciary Committee has spoken, the vote will be opened up to the rest of the senate.
