Winter time is the perfect season to curl up with a warm cup of hot chocolate, read a new book or catch up on some of your favorite movies. This winter has especially given the East Coast their fair share of snow days on and it looks like this weekend will be no different. While your preparing to get snowed in, we have to make sure that we have the perfect set of movies to get through the day. Here are a few classic roms coms to watch during a snow day! What are some of yours?
1. “Waiting To Exhale”
I’ll admit, I didn’t truly appreciate the movie “Waiting To Exhale” until I got more experience in the wide world of dating and dealing with the opposite sex. Not only is the movie based off the Terry McMillan novel by the same name, but it stars the late Whitney Houston, Angela Bassett, Lela Rochon and Loretta Devine as four best friends who go through similar struggles with men and dating that I’m sure many of us can relate to. Plus, Angela Bassett’s scene where she set’s her ex-husband’s clothes, shoes and car on fire is priceless!

2. “The Wood”
Possibly one of my favorite movies of all time, “The Wood” never disappoints! No matter how many times you’ve seen this classic, it’s always nice to relive it just one more time. It’s something about watching three best friends, Roland, Mike and Slim, run around “The Wood” in the early 1980s, chase after girls, fall in love, get into trouble and grow into young men that will always be entertaining! Plus, our favorite black actors, Lisa Raye, Taye Diggs, Omar Epps and more star in the film, making it a classic tale that’s perfect for your snowy day in.
3. “Two Can Play That Game”
Shante Smith (Vivica Fox) taught us how to keep a man in check and how to send him running for the hills. Either way, “Two Can Play That Game” is a romantic comedy that will never get old. With an all star cast of Morris Chestnut, Mo’Nique, Gabrielle Union, Bobby Brown and more, this movie is sure to keep you occupied while you’re cuddled up on your sofa during this snowy weekend!

4. “Think Like A Man”
The book turned movie ,”Think Like A Man”, hasn’t been around long enough to technically be considered a “classic” but it’s definitely an awesome movie nonetheless. The film, based off Steve Harvey’s relationship guide, “Act Like A Lady, Think Like A Man”, follows a group of men who stereotypically fit each type of man described in the book. When they get their hands on Steve Harvey’s book, they try to use it to manipulate the women they’re interested in into falling in love with them, only for it to backfire in the end!

5. “The Best Man” (or “The Best Man Holiday”)
“The Best Man” is definitely a 90s classic and since the sequel, “The Best Man Holiday”, was released last year, we can now enjoy two great movies with our favorite black actors. The sexiness of Morris Chestnut and Taye Diggs (yes, Lawd) and the gorgeousness of Nia Long, Sanaa Lathan, Regina Hall and Melissa De Sousa (seriously, do these women age?) is the recipe for a perfect cast, not to mention the comic relief that that Terrence Howard and Harold Perrineau give us through their characters. What more could you ask for? After watching this movie, all I wanted to do was be in love and around great friends!
