President Obama and Hillary Clinton joined forces to appear in their first joint interview on “60 Minutes” with Steve Kroft recently. The interview provided us more insight to their evolving friendship, showing the president’s utmost respect for the Secretary of State. The two political powerhouses shared laughs, finished each other’s sentences and gave one another high praise, even though they were once rivals. Clinton says any rival residue is “ancient history because of … the kind of people we all are, but also we’re professionals.”
The president joked about their former opposition in 2007 and through 2008, saying that it, “made for tough debates, by the way, because we could never figure out what we were different on.” They may have been rivals, but they shared the same goals for America.

It’s those shared goals that lead many of us to believing that President Obama’s got his hopes on Clinton succeeding him in 2016, however, he attempted to shut down that swirling rumor, “You guys in the press are incorrigible — I was literally inaugurated four days ago, and you’re talking about elections four years from now.”
A smiling Clinton said that she is “forbidden from even hearing these questions.” She continued by saying that she nor the president could predict “what’s going to happen tomorrow or the next year. What we’ve tried to do over the last four years is get up every day, have a clear-eyed view of what’s going on in the world.” And Clinton has a bird’s eye view of our world, as she’s traveled the length of it on behalf of our country and our president.

Clinton “deeply regret[s] what happened” in Benghazi and she didn’t go any further into taking blame. President Obama agreed, adding that he’s responsible for making government better at reducing threats and attributes the winding down of two wars to Clinton, calling it a great achievement in foreign policy.
The president continued praising Clinton and called her a “strong friend” and said he was “going to miss her” once she steps down as Secretary of State.
As much as any of them dance around Clinton’s hopeful presidential bid in 2016, President Obama chose her to sit by him in his first post-inaugural interview. That speaks volumes! He could have picked his political BFF, Vice President Joe Biden, but he picked Hillary. Interesting move, Mr. President. President Obama is also known for his active pursuit of Clinton in 2008 to be a part of his Cabinet.
