Chivalry is still around unfortunately majority of males have not been taught well. Women being independent and/or diva as some of you put it has not nor can not kill chivalry. Chivalry has nothing to do with money, but everything to do with manners. Simply put, home training is all that it is gentlemen. If you are talking about submission in terms of the bible then do not forget that submission between a male and woman must go both ways. If you want one to submit to you, you must show signs of submitting to that woman and vice versa. There is nothing wrong with what the young lady sad about correct English, that show a sign of some intelligence. I am alot older and wiser.

There is a certain recognition and response that is necessary for chivalry to work. If a woman were to leave the table, she must first excuse herself. Then the all of the men at the table are to stand as she gets up and leaves to go powder her nose. Then when she returns, her date is to pull out her chair while ALL of the other men are to once again rise. But how can you expect this kind of behavior if you don’t know how to command it. So you must excuse yourself first. If your door is opened and a man extends his hand, TAKE IT! We know you can get outta the car but its all about recognition. Chivalry is like dancing. It takes two people who know what they are doing. So while we as men need to learn about the intricacies of chivalry, SO DO WOMEN. Its a two way street here. I can say from experience that chivalry is not dead but there is a knife in its stomach and there is a woman wielding said knife. Most women wouldn’t be able to recognize what true chivalry is and that’s not good when she is raising a son. And the ones who think they do, truly do not. I have made it a point as I go through life to be chivalrous. I actually find it entertaining to see reactions when I do something chivalrous.

It’s amazing at how one sided these comments are. I naturally open a door for a lady not just getting into a car but going into a building also. I’ve had to teach some women how to deal with a man opening the door. Ladies if you are walking like the man isn’t there don’t expect him to open the door. I mean really where are you rushing to?? If you are with some one walk with him and as you approach the door slow down so he can get o it first and open it.
I was taught if you are walking on the outside you are available and on the inside you are taken. Any man that loves you wants to be your all but he shouldn’t have to battle you independence to do it. There is a limit to everything.

I am a 54 yr old woman divorced. I never seen men unapprectiated, have no manners, etc. As i have today. As growing up to woman i am today, relationships change and men has too. I thought i would change but no i didn’t. I decided to stay single til i find that man that knows what he wants and requirements i need. If i stay single til i die, i will still be happy. I want settle for nothing less.

But the most powerful men have plenty to spare and doesn’t mind sharing said power with a woman. Whether you end you with her or not. Because truth be told, a real man has plenty of options to explore. In the end, no big loss. And yes, I am again addressing wonkabear. Further more, I cant say I agree with Steve either. Its one thing to demand a certain level of respect but if you cannot give it then you do not deserve it. If you cant give me room in the sidewalk to walk, then walk your ass in the street. If you don’t excuse yourself from the table, then don’t ask me to pull out your chair when you return. If you don’t take my hand when it is offered to get out of the car, then open your own door. It is a give and take situation. The mistake is on both sides of the street. But if we as men are to blame, its not our lack of execution. I dont care how cute he is or what a man has, if ya dont respect me ya cant connect with me. The father element is truely the missing link. Between fatherless homess and “peer pressure” the kids are doomed. A woman can never reach a boy how to be a man, she can only teach him how to treat a woman. Now adays women are not even doing that. Both sides are failing our children especially by our black young men. They are being exposed to nothing but violence, rap videos, music, movies, the whole lot, and violence breeds violence. In turn they think it is ok to beat on their girlfriends, great example Chris Brown and Rhiana. But they are not the first one to go through that experience and they wont be the last. Keep it up this kind of real talk is much needed.

I know that alot of people both men and women are going to disagree with me on the things that I say. Chivalry is not dead and it never lived. Its a non-living proceedure. Its man made. Basically its a a level of chavinism in which it was designed to keep a woman under control. Its good to treat your mate well and all but anyone can do this chivalrous things and still treat the woman like crap. In a way chivilry is very superficial with no merit! We tend to make these rules of dating and its just don’t make any sense. At the end of the day the guy is going to do what he’s going to do and woman is going to do what she’s going to do. Life is how you make it and so as dating and relationships. You don’t need books and religion to tell you how releationships should be. There’s no such thing as a perfect relationship or person. This book “Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man” is phenomenal. Wow! Steve is really on it. No one expects you men-folk to be perfect, but some of you do need to step your game up. I have had some good men, so there are a few scattered abroad. But i have also had some that wouldn’t know what a woman wants or how to treat her, if her read a 5000 page dissertation on the subject. It takes us ladies to tell them what we expect though. Like Musiq Soulchild says, “Teach Me How To Love” because honestly, they dont really know. We women dont even know what we want sometimes. that’s just the way we were built. Emotional……and men are logical. We want to discuss possible solutions and break it down with hypothesis and all included…….but they just wanna fix it. This could go on and on……but basically….Men: Be patient with us, show us some respect and take care of home. Ladies: Be sweet, stop fussing and nagging, cook for the man and stop rationing it out (if he deserves it) and be more nurturing and easy to get along with.

I could agree with a lot of things that Mr Havey said in this video clip. Chivalry is not dead the only thing is that this is the age of the independent woman. Most women, at least the women that I have encountered, will beat me to the door and walk in even before I could get there. Then I would ask allow me to open that door for you and she’ll say that she could do it for herself. We live in a society now that the media is teaching us how to deal with one another in a very negative way (reality shows urrgh). Once we go back to the basics and stop feeling challenged then we will all live in prosperity. Women be women and allow the men to be men.
