Mario Punches Engineer At Concert

R&B singer Mario reportedly attacked a sound engineer, nearly sending him off stage, while performing at MusicFest in Rochester, NY reports WDKX 103.9 Rochester.

According to reports, Mario was said to have become upset after the sound engineer cut the power and lights after the “Break Up” singer went over is allotted time slot. He was escorted out of the Blue Cross Arena by security.

Mario later tweeted, “I can’t explain, somethings just happen on they own…”

    Whats missing from this story is that he started his show late. He went over the time alloted and they shut his arrogant behind down is all. Plus Anthony Hamilton and Jaheim blew up the show period. They were the bomb. Drue Hill wasn’t bad either. If I was that sound guy I would sue his behind after I cut him off. A job as a sound man is always available somewhere. Mr. Man aint the only fish in the sea!

    I’m sorry, as a sound engineer here in Vegas. I have been in similar situation ethier the venue or the promoter tells you to cut the show. Got to go with who’s paying the bill. Yes the artist gets mad but never had one cross the line.

    But in college and dealing with other non professional folks it’s a different story. I been called names, folks, and the artist posse threaten you. The funny part is if it’s real show the dude on stage is just the monitor engineer. He wasn’t even in control of the lights or house sound. Just in the wrong place wrong time. Hope he gets paid off this one!!!!

    I don’t think Mario handle the situation in a professional manner. The show had a late start anyway waiting for him. It probably would have been better if he hadn’t performed at all. They should have told him you missed your set.. oh well. Since they did let him perform, he should have been able to do his whole set. I think the timing of the cut off had a lot to do with it. He had already started “Break Up” and the crowd was on their feet jammin then… NOTHING! The audience was definitely disappointed. Maybe if the sound guy had timed it better and not cut him off in the middle of one of his biggest hits, the outcome may have been different. Who knows.. The concert was ok anyway.. they tried to rush Anthony Hamilton too but he wasn’t having it.. lol.. He definitely gave the audience what they paid for!

    I am from Baltimore, have made it through plenty of hostile situations wihout using violence, and found the Bmore joke funny. We say it all of the time here. No biggie.

    As for Mario, seems pretty uncharacteristic of him. But as everyone suggested, he was wrong. Often, we’d rather place the blame where it doesn’t belong to avoid beating ourselves up.

    At any rate, I still wonder if any engineer will cut another artist off in the middle of a song.
