Singer Teena Marie Dead At 54

R&B singer Teena Marie has passed away at the age of 54. TMZ.com is reporting that the Grammy nominated singer once known as Rick James’ protégée — died in her sleep last night at the age of 54. Marie, nicknamed Lady Tee,  was one of the few successful white performers of R&B. She played guitar, keyboards and congas. Teena recently teamed up with Faith Evans on “Can’t Last A Day,” Teena’s first single off the album “Congo Square”, which celebrated her 30-year anniversary in the music industry in 2009.

Hours before she died, Teena Marie tweeted this on her Twitter page: Sarah Vaughan “May You never grow old, and may I never die”…

    Wow I once saw and interview where Teena Marie said her greatest work was when she had her daughter and that if she wasn’t good at anything else she knows she’d been a good mother. Keep her only child in prayer during this difficult time for her. We the fan’s will mourn her for a moment Alia Rose will be mourning her for the rest of her life. RIP Teena sing your beautiful melodies for God until we meet again.
