Carlos Walker, known as rapper “Shawty Lo,” was killed in a car crash in South Fulton, Georgia, WSBTV-Atlanta reports.
According to local police reports, the crash happened at 2:20 a.m. when his Audi crashed over a guardrail, hitting several trees and catching fire.
The 40-year-old rapper was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. Two other passengers were taken to the hospital and expected to fully recover.
The “Laffy Taffy” star’s manager confirmed the news and issued a statement on Shawty Lo’s Twitter account:
Shawty Lo was known for his southern rap hits, including “Dey Know,” his debut single from his album Units in the City, and “Dunn Dunn.” He frequently collaborated with other ATL rappers such as T.I. and Ludacris.
He was also the founder of Georgia-based record label, D4L.
