Academy Awards President Advocates For ‘Birth Of A Nation’
The release of Nate Parker‘s Nat Turner film Birth of a Nation is in jeopardy as details of his 1999 rape case came to the forefront of media attention.
Now Academy president Cheryl Boone Isaacs is speaking out about the controversy, asking audiences to continue supporting the film.
She told TMZ:
“That’s one issue, that’s his personal issue. And then there’s the issue of the movie. The important thing is for people to see it and enjoy the film, be impressed by the film,” Boone Isaacs said.
“And I think that is what is very important. People need to see this movie.”
