A woman riding a Chicago Transit subway was stabbed to death on Thursday afternoon. Police have the suspect in custody, but have yet to charge him.

According to ABC-7 News, Red Line passengers say the suspect asked the woman sitting across from him a question about having children.

“He asked the young lady a question, she said no, and he got up and started stabbing her,” Andrea Patterson, a witness, said. “She fell toward the floor and he slit her neck.”

While there were passengers who videotaped the attack and did nothing, there were bystanders that tried to intervene and called 9-1-1, yet the attackers was still armed. The victim later died on the scene.

The attacker, who name has yet to be released, is a regular rider of the Red Line in the South Side of the city.  “I’m familiar with him,” she said. “I’ve seen him numerous times riding the train and it’s unbelievable he would do something like that.”

While some outlets reported that the attacker and the victim were dating or knew each other, that has yet to be confirmed.

While Bernie Sanders hasn’t officially ended his Presidential campaign, on Friday he did tell Chris Cuomo on “New Day” that he will likely vote for Hillary Clinton for president in November. This is strongest notion of support Sanders has given, but he left the door open that he could change his mind, CNN noted.

“In all likelihood, it will be Hillary Clinton,” Sanders said. “My job right now as a candidate is to fight to make sure that the Democratic Party not only has the most progressive platform in the history of the Democratic Party, but that that platform is actually implemented by elected officials,” he added.
It’s important to point out that Sanders hasn’t fully endorsed Clinton, nor would he say on television that she won the nomination fairly.
This will defintely make the Dem Convention very interesting.

Thanks to President Obama 12,000 prison inmates will be able to access federal Pell grants for college classes. There has currently been a a 22-year congressional ban on providing financial aid to prisoners, says the Washington Post.

Sixty-seven colleges and universities were selected for the Second Chance Pell Pilot Program that will help prisoners earn an associate’s or bachelor’s degree while in prison. Each of the schools recruited will work with around 100 federal and state penitentiaries to enroll inmates and get them linked to federal aid that covers tuition, books and fees for college students with financial need.

“We all agree that crime must have consequences, but the men and women who have done their time and paid their debt deserve the opportunity to break with the past and forge new lives in their homes, workplaces ad communities,” Education Secretary John B. King Jr. said on a call with reporters Thursday.

“This belief in second chances is fundamental to who we are as Americans,” he added.

And who doesn’t deserve that?
