Michael Costello is one of my favorite designers. Many remember him from Season 8 of Project Runway, but this Palm Springs-based, Romani designer has exploded into the fashion circuit as a celebrity favorite. It’s no surprise as his dresses are designed to flatter multiple figures, especially curvy and hourglass silhouettes. Everyone from Queen Latifah to Jessica White have donned his designs. The sheer and lace show-stopping gown Beyoncé wore to the 2014 Grammy Awards: yup, it’s Michael Costello.

The designer is a testament to hard work and perseverance. He taught himself to sew and drape. At age 14, he created his first couture collection, earning a mention in Vogue. Shortly after, he opened his first boutique in Palm Springs and by 15, he earned a year-long internship with Bob Mackie.

It’s exciting to watch his company grow. Wednesday, the fashion designer announced that his FW2016 collection is now available to order. No more waiting for Autumn to access Fall/Winter 2016! Once ordering online, you can access your gorgeous Michael Costello look in no more than 12 days. Thank you! This updated business model allows for designers to keep control over the supply chain, creative control as well as offerings. This is a business move that fashion designer LaQuan Smith made as well. Both designers are smart as the retail industry has always been a bit backward in making consumers wait an entire season to access a collection (even though it’s already been presented). It would be adventageous for fellow designers to follow suit with this new trend.
