Sorry Black Twitter, you can lay your #LupitaForMAC campaign to rest. According to WWDLupita Nyong’o will join Julia Roberts, Penélope Cruz, Kate Winslet and Lily Collins as a celebrity ambassador for Lancôme this September.

It was obvious that the undeniably gorgeous Oscar winner would snag a beauty campaign sooner than later. I mean duh…since her debut Hollywood has been quite obsessed with her unapologetic use of bright hues. #TeamBeautiful has even chronicled many of her standout moments here, and here, and here…oh and here too!

I’d bet my last tube of red matte lipstick that Lupita had plenty of beauty deals to pick from. So why Lancôme?

“What appealed to me about Lancôme is that they’re not dictating what beauty is,” Lupita said. “What they do supports something that already is — and that was appealing to me, too. It’s what drew me to them. Hopefully it’s a symbiotic relationship — that I benefit from being associated with them, and they benefit from being associated with me, as well. And for the consumer at large, I think Lancôme has a range of products for every woman, and I think having me will expand people’s understanding of, hopefully, what Lancôme stands for, who Lancôme is for. – via WWD

Adding Lupita to their rooster of celebrity faces is beyond major! Although the high-end French beauty brand has a number of products perfect for brown girls (I swear by their Dual Finish Powder Foundation), there hasn’t been a black face to represent the brand since Dominican model Arlenis Sosa in 2008.

Of course I’d love to debate the obvious question of why it’s been six years since Lancôme’s last brown face, or why it’s always just room for one pretty brown girl…but I’ll keep my surly thoughts to myself and simply say congratulations to Lupita!
