28-year-old Tamira Mobley, who is an unlicensed beautician, injected Tamara Blaine with silicone on July 8, in order to give Blaine the larger rear end she desired and that injection ended up costing Blaine her life. Once Mobley made the injection, Blaine began convulsing and having a seizure. Blaine was later pronounced dead at Roosevelt Hospital. Mobley was charged with manslaughter and felony assault, and is currently being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.

The New York Post is reporting that Blaine and Mobley exchanged several e-mails about the butt-enhancement procedure and booked prior appointments in June 2012, September 2012 and February 2013. Blaine paid Mobley “$500 to $800 on around six different occasions” for the illegally administered injections.

Mobley — who lists herself as a contact for a “plastics and masks” company called Silikon Incorp — lured clients through a Web site, sources said. She had several e-mail addresses and at least three Web sites registered in her name, public records show.

The worst part of this is that Mobley has denied giving Blaine any type of injections! But reports claim that Mobley invited Blaine to the Liberty Inn Hotel in the Meatpacking District in NYC and about two hours after the deadly injection, Mobley called 911, told them Blaine had a seizure and left her there barely conscious.

The body of 22-year-old Tamara Blaine lay unclaimed in the city morgue from the day of her death, July 8, until August as her mother, Lola Blaine, searched desperately for her whereabouts — even filing a missing persons report with the NYPD within days of her disappearance, family lawyer Barry Weiss said.

It took three months before Blaine’s death was ruled a homicide. According to the medical examiner, “the silicone went into her veins, asphyxiating her and causing her to lose consciousness very quickly.” It’s obvious Mobley had no idea what she was doing. I would assume that these injections need to go either directly into the fat or the muscle of the butt and if you’re unlicensed, or better yet, have no medical trainer whatsoever, you’re giving blind injections.

It’s crazy that women are willing to DIY something so invasive. There’s people who die on hospital operating tables, so there’s no way I would ever want a home hairdresser and makeup artist (because that’s what a beautician is) to inject my body with foreign materials. The desire for larger-than-necessary curves is a very real thing in our culture and it seems like we’re hearing about a new tragic butt injection story on a daily. What’s going on in the minds of young insecure women who are willing to do anything for curves?!

Talk about the pressure of being a Black woman without the proverbial curves we’re expected to have!
