MORE ON NEW YORK FASHION WEEK:
1. New Black Faces Slaying The Catwalk
Every New York Fashion Week, we pay attention close attention to the Black models strutting down the runway. We know we'll see Joan Smalls. We've seen Jordan Dunn at least twice in one show. But, what about any others? We've rounded up 10 new Black faces that we were excited to see showing off the latest collections from some of the most famous designers in the world, including Zac Posen, Donna Karen and Vera Wang.
2. Ajak Deng
This 19-year-old Sudanese beauty blazed the runways in Paris, booking high-end designer shows, including Lanvin, Givenchy and Jean Paul Gaultier. We can't wait to see what's next for her. ON THE RUNWAY THIS SEASON: Public School (left), Mara Hoffman (middle), Kenneth Cole (right)
3. Betty Adewole
Adewole is slowing making her mark in the industry. As a print model, she landed an ad for The Tom Ford Beauty and the cover of the February issue of The Edit, Net-A-Porter's magazine. ON THE RUNWAY THIS SEASON: Ohne Titel (left), Zac Posen (middle), Philosophy (right)
4. Grace Mahary
Mahary is blazing the catwalks now, though she originally had her sights on a basketball career. But, after booking a Givenchy contract, her plans changed. The Canadian, who also appeared in Trey Songz' steamy "I Invented Sex" video, also modeled for Michael Kors and Tommy Hilfiger. ON THE RUNWAY THIS SEASON: Hervé Léger (left), Vera Wang (middle), Narciso Rodriguez (right)
5. Imaan Hammam
Imaan, the beautiful Dutch bombshell, has strutted for Givenchy, TopShop and Jean Paul Gaultier. She has also modeled for Hugo Boss and Edun. We can't wait to see this beautiful woman shine. ON THE RUNWAY THIS SEASON: Reed Krakoff (left), Tory Burch (middle), Proenza Schouler (right)
6. Kai Newman
The stunning 16-year-old Jamaican model has appeared on many designer runways, including Gucci, Rodarte, Calvin Klein, and Jil Sander, and to think, she was discovered on the street after a dentist's visit. We're looking forward to seeing her in September. ON THE RUNWAY THIS SEASON: Reed Krakoff (left), Rodarte (middle), Narciso Rodriguez (right)
7. Cindy Bruna
The African-French model is kind of a big deal. She's the third woman of color to ever appear in a Prada print campaign, and that was only her first major booking. We genuinely loved seeing her face this season and she should be seen so much more. ON THE RUNWAY THIS SEASON: DVF (Diane Von Furstenburg) (left), Ralph Lauren (middle), Donna Karen (right)
8. Cora Emmanuel
When Cora Emmanuel opened Bottega Veneta's show in September 2011, she made a splash and had many people talking. Since then, she's been making more appearances down the catwalk and even snagged a MAC Cosmetics campaign deal last year. ON THE RUNWAY THIS SEASON: Ralph Rucci (left), Zac Posen (middle), Carolina Herrera (right)
9. Maria Borges
After being discovered as a teen, Borges was represented by Supreme Management in the beginning of 2012. She booked 17 shows during her first season, and has since walked for Dior and Givenchy, even referring to the fashion house's Creative Director Riccardo Tisci as her "godfather." ON THE RUNWAY THIS SEASON: Prabal Garung (left), Wes Gordon (middle), DVF (right).
10. Nadja Giramata
This French beauty has modeled for Tom Ford, landed a major campaign with TopShop, and appeared in the covetable pages of Vogue Italia. And, to think, she's only 22 years old. ON THE RUNWAY THIS SEASON: Lela Rose (left), Naeem Khan (middle), Tracy Reese (right)
11. Riley Montana
Montana is truly making her mark in the industry and has appeared in the Givenchy Spring/Summer print ad and Vogue Paris. Who knows what will be next for the gorgeous model? ON THE RUNWAY THIS SEASON: Rodarte (left), DKNY (middle), Tory Burch (right)
