Tonight, President Obama will deliver his 2014 State of the Union Address. The State of the Union is not only a chance for the President to give an update on where the nation stands, but also a moment for him to lay out his legislation wish list to Congress and the American people.

This year, we’re hoping President Obama has better luck with Congress than he did in 2013. Obama failed to get any of his top 2013 State of the Union priorities through Congress: they ignored his calls for a new jobs program, for new gun controls and for immigration reform.

This year, it seems President Obama will continue to focus on a few items from his list last year, including comprehensive immigration reform and gun control. He’s also expected to focus on other important topics including: bridging the income inequality gap, immigration, the Affordable Care Act and free pre-kindergarten for 4-year-olds to name a few.

The burning question remains–can President Obama cement his footing with Congress enough to force action on some of his priorities, or will 2014 instead be remembered as another frustrating year of unnecessary obstacles? We’re rooting for our president!
