HelloBeautiful: Describe your day-to-day activities and responsibilities as Global Marketing Director for Strength of Nature.

Charlene Dance: I love that everyday is different and brings new challenges and opportunities for new accomplishments. In my tenure, I’ve developed a robust 360º marketing model that has successfully contributed to increased brand recognition in stores, households and a measurable lift in sales for the African Pride and Beautiful Textures brands. I created DreamKids, Beautiful Textures and also re-launched multiple hair care brands under the Strength of Nature portfolio with complete marketing makeovers and revamped product solutions that cater to diverse audiences and improve consumer experiences.

HB: What prompted your interest in marketing?

CD: I am passionate about my job because I am able to provide women and girls with a variety of affordable hair products that allow them to achieve the hairstyles that they desire.

HB: What helps you reach success everyday?

CD: I love the quote by Dr. Joyce Meyer, “You can be pitiful, or you can be powerful, but you can’t be both.” Be confident and know the value in what you can offer people and deliver.

HB: What are the major challenges in your role as Global Marketing Director and what solutions have you deemed best to handle these challenges?

CD: As our corporation continues to grow, the challenge we face is remaining very aware of our consumer’s needs. At Strength Of Nature, we have empowered the use of content specialist to get real-time feedback from our consumers in the social media space. Our grass root PR agencies also help us to not miss a beat with what our customers are saying and feeling in regards to our product lines. This is how we never lose touch with the hearts and minds of who we are making products for.

HB: What would you contribute your level of success to?

CD: My graduate studies in program administrative research (PAR) prepared me for my current position with Strength of Nature by being able to effectively understand our demographic’s beauty and emotional needs. I am able to use that research to outline attainable goals and effectively deliver consistent results; thus, making sure our brand meets the consumer’s individual needs.
