Terrence Howard and Sanaa Lathan fans are in for a treat. The veteran actors have just picked up a new project, starring in an all-chocolate version of Shakespeare’s Macbeth.
According to Indiewire, the new movie, titled Macbett, will stay true to Shakespeare’s original storyline however there will be a few new twists and turns, including a Caribbean theme.
Howard will be executive producing the project and starring as the lead character, General Macbett. Lathan will play his beautiful wife Lady Macbett, and other stars in film include Blair Underwood, Evan Ross and Harry Lennix.
Here’s how the filmmakers described their take on the play-turned-movie:
“After a gallant military victory, General Macbett (Howard) encounters the “Weird Sisters,” who are the spirit daughters of Mother Africa and reign over fire, water, earth and sky. They delight in manipulating Macbett by feeding him predictions of royal titles including “King.” Macbett soon becomes obsessed with ambition, as does his beautiful and ruthless wife Lady Macbett.”
Macbett was written and directed by Aleta Chappelle, who is said to be the first Amercan-American woman to direct a film version of a Shakespeare play.
The movie is scheduled to begin filming in Puerto Rico and Jamaica in September.
