President Barack Obama fulfilled an important campaign promise he made to his wife, Michelle, he took her to a Broadway play in NYC.

According to people.com, after watching their daughter Malia play in a soccer game in Washington earlier in the day, the first couple boarded a jet for Manhattan for date night. The President and his First Lady, who was dressed in a flirty black sleeveless fringed dress headed for a romantic meal at Blue Hill, a Greenwich Village restaurant known for its American Nouveau cuisine.

After dining a little more than two hours at Blue Hill, the President and First Lady headed to the Belasco Theater to check out  “Joe Turner’s Come and Gone.”

The play by August Wilson is about black America in the early 1900s, with residents of a boardinghouse recalling their migration from the sharecropping farms of the South to the industrialized North.
