Victoria Monet owned the summer of 2023 with her infectious single “On My Mama,” giving women an anthem that made them feel like they too are that girl. That’s the exciting thing about Victoria Monet’s catalog and the woman behind the music. Not only is she that girl, but she also makes us feel that way.
The stylish ATL Native released her debut album Jaguar II, with the single that garnered two Grammy award nominations. In total, Monet landed seven Grammy noms proving she is a force to be reckoned with.
Victoria has been expressing herself through music and empowering others long before her solo career. The singer-songwriter started as a third addition to a girl group. When this didn’t materialize, she then went on to write for several well-known artists. Diddy and Dirty Money are most notable with the song “I Hate That You Love Me” and Ariana Grande on her album Yours Truly. Victoria then collaborated with Ariana on two songs, “7 Rings” and “Thank U, Next. Both hit No. 1 on the Billboard charts.
“On My Mama” Nominated For Two Grammys
Now Victoria is making waves on her own. “On My Mama” was an instant hit for Monet, whose visuals went viral for its creativity and homage to the early 2000s through dance moves and iconic style moments. It is nominated for “Best R&B Song,” and one of the biggest honors of Grammys night, “Record of the Year.”
Jaguar II, her first full-length official album, dropped on August 25 and the follow-up Jaguar Tour further solidified Victoria’s stronghold on the R&B game.
Victoria Monet – 7 Grammy Nominations
It was only a matter of time before Victoria Monet was recognized by her peers, and the industry for her consistency and dedication to her craft. Monet’s seven 2024 Grammy nominations include: “Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical,” “Best R&B Album,” “Best New Artist” for her Jaguar II album and “Best R&B Song,” “Record Of The Year” for “On My Mama.” The list of Grammy nominations continues with “Best Traditional R&B Performance” for her song “Hollywood” and “Best R&B Performance” for her song “How Does It Make You Feel.”
Monet’s daughter Hazel also made history by becoming the youngest person to be nominated for a Grammy for her vocals on Jaguar II. We spoke to the buzzing beauty, at Variety’s Grammy celebration party, about her precious two-year-old and how the beautiful tot reacted to her nomination. “She keeps mentioning that she wants to go to the Grammys,” explained Monet. “The other day, she was like ‘Grammy-nominated'” she joked. While the 34-year-old artist isn’t sure just how much Haze understands, she hopes she’s ready because she wants to hit the red carpet with her. Watch it below:
Victoria Monet’s Style
Equally as popping as Victoria’s artistry is her style. Her everyday looks are a mix between street style glam and casually effortless. She rocks baggy jeans, tight bralettes, platform heels, sneakers, oversized bombers, and mini skirts.
The blossoming beauty has also slayed every red carpet she’s stepped on. Usually opting for body-hugging dresses that show off her flat abs and soft curves and eye-popping gowns, Victoria’s fashion is red carpet goals. We’ve compiled a list of top red-carpet looks from the R&B songstress. Nine in total, each ensemble proves how she is that girl.
