I’m not sure I’ve met anyone who hasn’t been hypnotized by Erykah Badu’s alluring personality. She stepped on the scene more than three decades ago with a neo soul vibe that captivated Black folks everywhere. And sis has had us hooked ever since. Erykah Badu is the unicorn we need, set to receive Billboard’s Icon Award
Billboard is taking time to recognize Ms. Badu at its annual Billboard Women in Music event. The “Next Lifetime” singer will receive the Icon Award, proving her mark on the culture from music and entertainment and beyond.
Billboard said about honoring Badu and others, “From rising stars to legendary icons, this year’s honorees are redefining what it means to be a trailblazer in the industry. We’re honored to highlight their outstanding achievements and contributions through unforgettable performances, powerful tributes, and an evening that will truly shine a spotlight on their impact.”

Today (February 26) Badu turns 54. She is proof that age ain’t nothin’ but a number.
Badu shared a gorgeous headshot to celebrate her trip around the sun. Her face card is on never decline – and her youthful spirit is light as a feather. She continues to encourage us all to live our most authentic selves, unapologetically.

Back in 2000, this look was very typical of Erykah Badu. She was known for her elaborate head wraps, minimal makeup, and Afrocentric garments.
Badu’s earthy vibe came during a time where women were making bold fashion choices, which included micro mini skirts, midriff tops, and extremely low-cut jeans. Through her look, we learned the many layers of sexiness.
