You know it’s serious when Anna Wintour texts you about your Met Gala look. And this is exactly what happened to 2025 Met Gala co-chair Colman Domingo.
The actor recently sat down with Vogue’s The Run-Through podcast and let us in on a chic text exchange. Let’s call it a fashion check-in, if you will, from none other than Ms. Wintour herself.

“I got a text last night, and I got so giddy because Anna sent me a text last night. And she says, ‘Checking in. How’s filming going and how’s your Met look??'” Colman said about his text chain with the famed editor and icon. His face lit up as he laughed through the memory.
Naturally, Colman didn’t leave her on read. He replied with some friendly updates—he calls Anna a “friend,” by the way. Then, he gave her the full rundown of his Met Gala look, complete with all the little details he planned to add.
Then, he waited for what he described as “hours.”
“I was not going to before she texted me back,” he joked.
But finally, the legendary editor-in-chief texted him back. Three words: “Work of art.”
Colman’s response? “I’m good, you guys; I’m going to be alright!” he exclaimed in the social media clip.
