1. 11 Hair Products & Tools That Make Bad Hair Days A Distant Memory…
I’m a natural chick underneath my weave, so it’s safe to say I’ve tried my fair share of hair products and tools. Every so often I find a gel, moisturizer or curling iron that makes my life easier (and hair more glamorous). And, isn’t that what life’s all about? Great hair and life hacks? I’ve been experimenting with tons of hair stuff so you don’t have to. Scroll through this gallery for my favorite hair goodies.
2. Hot Tools Nano Ceramic Spring Curling Irons
When my 24″ weave falls flat, I look to my Hot Tools Nano Ceramic Curling Iron for some oomph. What I love most about the sleek hair tool is how fast and how hot (up to 430° F) it gets–which makes for effortless, long-lasting curls. Did I mention it only costs $48 (1″ barrel)? And, if you’re like me and sometimes leave on your appliances, the iron will eventually cut off!
3. SheaMoisture’s SMOOTH & REPAIR HAIR STRAIGHTENING SYSTEM
As a girlie, who stopped perming her hair a few years ago, I often miss my straight styles. In my attempt to remain natural but rock bone straight tresses (without heat damaging my hair) I found SheaMoisture’s Smooth & Repair Hair Straightening System. Since I love their thickening growth milk, I opted to give it a try. It smells great and left my hair feeling really smooth and STRAIGHT!
4. Argan Oil Perfect 7
Who says one red bottle can’t solve all of your hair needs? Creme Of Nature’s Argan Oil Perfect 7 packs everything you need to keep your hair healthy. It acts as a conditioning agents using Pro-Vitamin B-5 and silk amino acids that leave you with shinier, smoother and silkier hair. The 7in1 leave-in detangles and conditions, acts as a heat protectant, prevents split ends and controls frizz. And, it only costs $7.99!
5. Tyche Rod Slim Cone Wand Curler
Whoever told you luxurious curls don’t come in a box, lied. Want goddess like spirals that last throughout the day? Try Tyche’s affordable wand curler. Seriously, this is my favorite hair appliance. It takes the typical curl set from wow to va-va-voom! The wand curl is totally in this season and the Tyche tool costs less that $30 so it won’t break your bank. The swivel handle makes styling easy. Beware, it gets hot!
6. Design Essentials Sleek Edge Control
Tired of edge control that leaves your hair coated in that yucky grey/white residue or the edge control that’s dripping down your forehead after a long hot day at work? Try Design Essentials Sleek Edge Control because it not only smells good, it works. It’s a little pricier than the typical edge control, but I’ve spent more on lipstick. $10.99 won’t kill you.
7. The Edge Stick
If you’re a stickler about your edges and want to straighten every inch of your baby hairs, The Edge Stick is for you. But, be very careful too much heat on your edges will cause you to go Naomi Campbell bald. I don’t use my Edge Stick often, but I pull it out of the closet for those nights where EVERYTHING has to be perfect.
8. Nothing But Mold & Hold Wax
When I’m in between weaves, I often rock a top knot or high bun. Nothing holds my natural hair better than Nothing But Mold & Hold Wax. Like seriously, what is this stuff made off–glue? It’s my best friend on good and bad hair days and for $8, I’m here for it! This line also has great clarifying shampoo. After using it, my hair felt squeaky clean.
9. Miss Jessie’s® Original Crème de la Crème Conditioner
As a loyal weave-wearer, it’s really important for me to moisturize my hair when I’m on a weave break. Miss Jessie’s® Original Crème de la Crème Conditioner is one of my faves because it is a leave-in conditioner (and I love a good leave-in). Aside from the obvious, it smells delectable. It’s like fabric softner for hair. Don’t believe me? It’s so good, my boyfriend (who has very little hair) stole it.
10. Moroccanoil® Moisture Repair Conditioner
Moroccanoil® Conditioner is a God-send. A palm-size amount goes way far and leaves your hair way moisturized and shiny. It features a moisture-balancing formula for hair that has been weakened or damaged by color, chemical processing or heat styling. Gently detangling and highly reparative, it infuses hair with antioxidant-rich argan oil, reconstructive keratin and fatty acids. Sounds like the truth!
11. Pantene Pro-V Truly Natural Line
If you’re against splurging on Moroccanoil® (that stuff is $23 a bottle), Pantene Pro-V has a natural line that is pretty impressive. It promises 72-hour moisture lock and helps detangle natural hair. Their line is super affordable and designed for the average woman, who cares about her hair. And come on, it’s Pantene Pro-V–bout time they made a product for the sisters!
