After many sleepless nights of trying to get my daughter to bed, I was searching for a book that could help me teach her how to sleep. I came across a book called, On Becoming Babywise by Gary Ezzo and Robert Bucknam. It was truly one of the best books I have read on parenting. It basically gives you step to step instructions on how to teach your little one how to sleep and the philosophy behind it.

In a nutshell, once your child learns a routine, they are then able to learn how to sleep and stay asleep on their own. I followed each step to a T, and about two months later I had a three month old sleeping 12 hours a night! Seriously, no joke!

A great added bonus is that this book also provides great instruction on other major milestones in your child’s life like breastfeeding vs. bottle feeding, jar food vs. homemade food, etc.  It really helped me throughout every stage of my daughter’s life and now at three years old, she is a great sleeper, great eater and a great nap taker.

If you are looking for a book to help you through these stages, I strongly encourage picking this book up! Trust me, if you apply what you read, you won’t be disappointed. Remember be persistent and stick with it. I just purchased two of their other books–On Becoming Pottywise and On Becoming Toddlerwise. Needless to say, my daughter is fully potty trained and I am working on becoming Toddlerwise. Good luck to you new mothers!
