Mary J. Blige Alter Ego Returns On New Album
Mary J. Blige’s Rapping Alter Ego Returns On New Album
Mary J. Blige will be rapping again on her new album My Life II… The Journey Continues (Act I). Named “Brook Lyn” after the New York City borough, Mary spits verses like a veteran on “Midnight Drive” according to Rap-Up.
As a sequel to her 1994 breakthrough record, “My Life,” the new album “adds another level of understanding” to the pain she was going through the first time around, Mary says. And you can expect a Act II “because it’s just too much good music.”
Watch “Brook Lyn” make her cameo at the 2:30 mark on “Enough Cryin” from the Breakthrough era.
We love Mary, but does anybody else think alter egos (Beyonce’s “Sasha Fierce,” Mariah’s “Mimi,” Nicki Minaj’s…everybody) are a little ridiculous? Why not just be one multi-faceted artist?
