Jennifer Hudson Reveals She Turned Down Role Of “Precious”
Jennifer Hudson could have played “Precious” – the acclaimed film role that went to Gabourey Sidibe instead and catapulted her into stardom – but she turned it down. J.Hud revealed the news in her upcoming book “I Got This: How I Changed My Ways and Lost What Weighed Me Down.”
Around the time that Hudson was finishing promo for her role in “Dreamgirls,” director Lee Daniels approached her about “Precious,” but Hudson couldn’t fathom the idea of packing on more pounds for another film.
“I had done that with Effie… and as much as I was moved by this film,” she said. “I wanted to try a role that had nothing whatsoever to do with my weight.”
