After a five-year hiatus, Teyana Taylor has officially returned to music, and she brought some famous faces along with her. On Wednesday, June 4, Taylor dropped the first single, “Long Time,” from her upcoming visual album, Escape Room, set to be released in August. The post-apocalyptic, futuristic vibe of the video is present throughout, as Taylor rocks a variety of fashion-forward looks. In the video, which chronicles a love story gone wrong, Teyana and actor LaKeith Stanfield appear to be at the end of a toxic relationship when she kidnaps and holds him captive, only for him to break free and chase her as she attempts to flee.

The clip cuts to Taylor’s rumored boyfriend Aaron Pierre, playing the role of a cop, who stands over what appears to be her dead body at a crime scene before picking up her lifeless frame and carrying her away. Stanfield and Pierre aren’t the only high-profile names featured in the video, as the opening and closing monologue is narrated by none other than Taraji P. Henson—who recently starred with Taylor in Tyler Perry’s Netflix film, Straw.

Additionally, the legendary Missy Elliott is listed as an executive producer on the song, and Oscar-nominated director Paul Thomas Anderson helmed the clip. 

Taylor co-stars in Anderson’s upcoming film, One Battle After Another. alongside superstar Academy Award-winner Leonardo DiCaprio, which is set for a September release.

Taylor took a well-publicized break from music, during which she said she was retired and was solely focusing on creative directing for other artists, which she has since done for the likes of Summer Walker and more. Her fans are likely excited to see her finally return with a new project of her own material.

Although Taylor and Pierre have yet to publicly confirmed their rumored relationship, if the video is any indication, they are indeed one of Hollywood’s newest couples on the scene.
