“There are no words for the pain we feel.” These are the heartfelt words Sheinelle Jones shared with the world, confirming the passing of her husband, Uche Ojeh. Her Today show colleagues delivered Sheinelle’s words live on Friday, May 23.

Uche, 45, died after a brave battle with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer.

Sheinelle and Uche’s love story began at Northwestern University, where they met as students and eventually built a beautiful family together. They share three children: Kayin, Uche Jr., and Clara. “It’s not lost on me how lucky I am to have not only the support of my Today show family but also to have you,” Sheinelle shared in a January Instagram post, thanking fans for their support while privately navigating her husband’s illness.

Sheinelle’s Today colleagues honored Uche with deep emotion. Craig Melvin noted, “He loved their three children more than anything else.” Al Roker remembered him as “wickedly funny” and “humble.”
